My greatest passion is helping people connect to positive truth about who they are and why they matter. I believe that "mental health" is not a fixed point to arrive at but something we can always strengthen throughout life as each season presents new challenges and opportunities.
As a Christian counselor I've come to understand that many of the hangups we struggle with have their root in wounds or lies we believe. My goal is not to transpose my values onto yours but to understand your values and beliefs and help you uncover and win the battle over negative beliefs holding you back.
Education and Experience
My educational background includes a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Bethel University in St. Paul, MN and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Wheaton College in Illinois.
I have experience providing counseling services in a number of settings from private practice to a college counseling center, to coaching over the phone through health insurance. Outside of private practice I serve as a coach for Cigna Behavioral Health, supporting individuals working through substance use, depression, bipolar and anxiety as well as parents of children with autism. In the past, my love for the outdoors led me to facilitate group processes through ropes courses, guide wilderness trips and serve in a variety of camp ministry positions.
Credentials and Associations
When I'm not in the office, I love spending time on the North Shore with my family, volunteering at a therapeutic horseback riding program, hanging out with the youth group at church or doing anything on the water.
I get excited about anti-trafficking efforts, like Starfish Project and joining with organizations that meet tangible needs.
I am an active member of an Evangelical Free Church and you can read about my faith beliefs here. That said, I aim to provide what you need from the counseling experience and let you decide how much to focus on issues of faith and spirituality. All are welcome!
